Re: Ben Johnson
Looks like we have the right back slot covered for next season with Fredericks and this lad Johnson. Which means money to spend on a decent left back with Creswell as a competent backup.

Re: Ben Johnson
Great debut for a 19 year old (I think)

Thrown in at the deep end away at City who have arguably the best team in the world currently and playing out of position.

Future looks bright for him, Pellegrini obviously believes in his ability enough to go straight into the team against them so I am excited to see how he will get on and hopefully he features in games we have a better chances in performing in.

Hopefully will be in the team Saturday

Apparently he is the Nephew of Paul Parker and a cousin of Ledley King.

Parker was an excellent full back so hopefully his uncle passes on some wisdom

Re: Ben Johnson
physically he looks up to it and mentally he kept the offside line really well, as did fredricks

I laughed... but then again, my sense of humour might not be that good.

Re: Ben Johnson
Happy to see him have his debut and good that Pellegrini is using another youth prospect instead of trying some odd square peg in round hole solution.
Although his hand was forced Pellegrini has used the youth well this season and that very well.

My mistake. My joke wasn't really funny either

Cup of tea, Johnson won in 1988 in Seoul, Christy won in 92 In Barcelona.

Re: Ben Johnson
A few times you clearly saw him pointing and shouting at Anderson to go and mark his man. Showed great maturity but Anderson needs to start supporting his left back more defensively. yes Anderson makes alot of tackles which is great but seems to be always higher up the pitch.

Re: Ben Johnson
Good enough as 2nd choice RB to Freds next Season for sure.

The problem is the LB position with Cress always injured and Masuaku shite.

Need to spend a few mill on a first choice LB in the Summer.

Also v Newcastle if Balbuena is fit, Ogbonna can play LB if Cress and Masuaku not fit

Won the 100m in 92' Olympics then got banned didn't he?

had a decent debut

Re: Ben Johnson
He didn't need to adapt to the game conditions, all of the defence were under strict instructions and other than a bollocks penalty, kept them at bay.

Regardless of Mahrez not having his best game, maybe that was because the young man done exactly what he was told and cancelled him out.

He's not even a left back so fair play.

Re: Ben Johnson
Pellegrini has spoken about it in the past, with Man City their biggest threat and best players are central, and they really hurt you from that position, playing in triangles and threading balls through. The theory is you'd rather give them space out wide and sticking in crosses, which our defence would have a better chance defending.

Re: Ben Johnson
You adapt to the game conditions, which he didn't do. That comes with experience.

I'm not saying he didn't have a good game, just pointing out some basics.

With regards to staying narrow, we did exactly the same thing against Arsenal.

Eerie Descent 11:19 Thu Feb 28
Re: Ben Johnson
Him staying narrow was 100% down to instruction.

Block 11:19 Thu Feb 28
Re: Ben Johnson
Why?

Re watch the first half , he constantly kept tucking in allowing too much space for Mahrez.

I can't take you seriously when you talk football, SON.

Re: Ben Johnson
Lily, I did feel for him due to Anderson doing very little to help him out and often he was caught with two players to mark or go to the ball, which meant he was bypassed a few times.

No doubt there's potential there, these little things come with experience.

Re: Ben Johnson
Considering it was his debut, playing on his wrong side, against arguably one of the best sides in World football - he did bloody well.

My biggest concern was that he kept talking to himself. If he's showing signs of madness now, what will he be like in a few years?

Posting on here, no doubt.
